Alcon has received two environmental excellence awards – the Pretreatment Partnership Award and the Pollution Prevention Award – from the City of Fort Worth, Texas. The awards recognise ongoing efforts at Alcon’s Fort Worth manufacturing facility, commitment to prevent environmental releases, and promotion of sustainability.
Results from Alcon’s environmental sustainability efforts have shown a reduction of 4.5 million litres of water annually and the elimination of almost 82,000kg of Styrofoam. The implementation of Xeriscape landscaping, a process of landscaping that has helped remove over 20 irrigation heads at Alcon global head office and manufacturing plant, has saved over 3.4 million litres of water annually. The awards also recognise Alcon’s focus on sustainable packaging which reduced over 145,000kg of waste produced in manufacturing, distribution and customer use and reuse.
