Australian ophthalmic diagnostics developer, Cylite Pty Ltd, has appointed Kylee Hall as Vice President, Sales and Marketing. Ms Hall, who is a medical device industry expert, will support the commercialisation of Cylite’s fourth generation optical coherence tomographer – the Hyperparallel OCT (HP-OCT) for ophthalmology and optometry.
According to Cylite, its HP-OCT system is “engineered to give industry-leading A-scan speeds, capturing volume data to provide accurate analytics for corneal and refractive specialists”. Additionally, the platform overcomes eye-motion limitations presented by previous generations of OCT.
I have tremendous respect for the founding team… They have developed an impressive piece of diagnostic ophthalmic equipment that solves so many of the issues faced with current offerings
Dr. Steve Frisken, Chief Executive Officer of Cylite, said Ms Hall’s breadth of experience in the ophthalmic diagnostics business would play a key role in his company’s entry into the market.
Prior to joining Cylite, Ms Hall completed a Global Executive MBA from The University of Sydney, as well as graduating from the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Preceding these studies, she was the Medical Division Manager for Carl Zeiss Pty Ltd, responsible for overall management of the Australian and New Zealand Medical Business Group as an autonomous profit centre.
“It’s not often there are opportunities to join a company at the market introduction stage and help direct the future commercialisation phase globally. It is even more rare for this to be with an Australian start-up in the ophthalmic diagnostic field,” said Ms. Hall. “I have tremendous respect for the founding team, who have incorporated photonics knowledge from the telecommunications industry into the medical technology field. They have developed an impressive piece of diagnostic ophthalmic equipment that solves so many of the issues faced with current offerings.
“Sometimes you have to approach a challenge with a different mindset to succeed, and this is exactly what they have done”.
