Silmo Paris has announced the nominees for the 2020 Silmo d’or awards. The companies nominated fall into nine categories that recognise quality in optical and sunglass frames in fashion trend and designer categories, as well as children, sport and technical innovation.
This year, in the 27th instalment of the awards, Grosfilley France has been nominated for three of its frames across optical and sunglass categories. It’s optical frame ‘Wanted’ is a model with a sleek aesthetic that combines 80s minimalism with contemporary patterns, and ‘Tigirs’, a metal model, features an animal motif. The ‘Brian’ sunglass model is made from titanium with gold and leather details.
Multiple Safilo frames have also received nominations (among them) ‘Lilo/s’ by Jimmy Choo, which features an oversized round rimless frame
Also in the Optical Frame, Fashion Trend category, Opal’s Blondie C20, ‘Berenice’ features an elegant glitter effect, and model BA 1032 by ba&sh, ‘Seaport’ is a rounded acetate frame with embellished temples.
Multiple Safilo frames have also received nominations – ‘DB 1024’ by David Beckham, which combines vintage and modernity through structure and detail, ‘Marc 451/S’, Marc Jacobs, with eye-catching details and a vintage effect, and ‘Lilo/s’ by Jimmy Choo, which features an oversized round rimless frame.
In the eyewear designer categories optical nominations include Gold & Wood with model Eris, Masahiromaruyama with Monocle MM-0052 and Rigards with model RG2003. Sunglass nominations include Blake Kuwahara Eyewear with ‘BK 1006 Grey Label’ and Nathalie Blanc Paris with ‘Chupa – 363’.
The Frame Technological Innovation category triumphs innovative design with this year’s nominees – Brett with ‘Qstom’, Frost Eyewear with ‘Jupiter’ and Quicksliver with ‘Interaction’ – demonstrating achievement in customisation and sustainability.
Other models have been nominated in the categories of Children, Sport, and Vision, as well as products nominated for the Material/Equipment award.
