Voy ‘tunable’ spectacles and sunglasses, have been recognised as a CES 2021 Innovation Awards Honoree in the Wearable Technology category.
The company, which launched on Kickstarter in early 2020 and started its first production shipment in late 2020, was developed to meet the needs of presbyopes.
Made from environmentally friendly materials and with no electronic components, users manually adjust the focus of the glasses from -5D to +2D within seconds, using a wheel for each lens that sits on the frame front just above the temples.
The proprietary nano-precision lens technology enables the focus to be adjusted with 1/10th of a dioptre granularity and can achieve a field of near view that is ten times larger than available with progressive lenses.
This means a wearer can get by, with one pair of glasses, by adjusting the focus according to the activity and over time as vision changes.
Voy spectacle and sun lenses are engineered and fabricated in Japan and come with blue light blocker, anti-reflection and UV protection coatings. The technology can also be used for VR / AR, smartphone zoom camera and medical devices. They are sold online.
