Specsavers’ newest cohort of graduate optometrists have participated in a first-of-its-kind hybrid-virtual graduate induction. The two day event was held at local training centres across Australia and New Zealand with content livestreamed from the Graduate Induction HQ at the Specsavers support office in Melbourne.
The induction included in-person social welcome functions in Auckland, WA, QLD, NSW, SA and VIC, followed by virtual presentations, network building activities, and workshops to enhance both personal and professional development.

“While we always love to bring our graduates to Victoria for induction, the current global climate means we need to continually innovate and think outside the square to deliver great experience and training to our graduates,” said Raj Sundarjee, Specsavers Director of Professional Recruitment Australia and New Zealand.
“I’m thrilled to welcome these early career optometrists to our graduate program and using the latest technology, still provide them with a fantastic induction experience to kick-start their Specsavers careers.”
This latest graduate cohort will now go on to participate in the Specsavers Graduate Program which aims to provide optometrists with the tools and training to excel in-store through mentorship, continued education and professional development, commercial and inter-professional perspectives and formal feedback.
These elements are delivered through workshops, online programs, case studies, presentations, in-person and virtual development meetings and clinical skills training and seminars.
