The eye care community has a unique opportunity to explore, compare and purchase a massive range of newly released ophthalmic equipment during O=PEN HOUSE, an event that will be held in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne during October and November.
The collaborative effort was conceived in the wake of the cancelled O=MEGA21.
BOC Instruments, Designs for Vision, Device Technologies and Optimed will all open their houses, from 15–16 October in Brisbane, from 29–30 October in Sydney and from 5-6 November in Melbourne.
Ryan Heggie, Business Manager, Ophthalmic Diagnostic at Device Technologies said, “O=PEN HOUSE has been established to provide practitioners an opportunity to see newly released technology, with an in-person demonstration in one of many showrooms, while remaining compliant with relative state restrictions and COVID safety measures.”

Will Robertson from Designs for Vision, who initiated the idea and worked with BOC, Device and Optimed to get the Friday/Saturday events off the ground, stressed the uniqueness of the effort.
“In Australia we are fortunate to operate in an environment where, despite being competitors, we work together for the benefit of the profession and the community as a whole. It is unlikely that you could find such a collaborative effort like this anywhere else in the world,” he said.
“We’ll have the full gamut of equipment available to explore. We’ll be celebrating with some fantastic offers that are exclusive to O=PEN HOUSE visitors – discounts and value-add offers that you’d only usually find at O=MEGA.”
Brisbane: 15–16 October
The event will run in Brisbane on 15–16 October 2021 with Designs For Vision hosting BOC in their Morningside location.
Sydney: 29–30 October
A Sydney event will run from29–30 October, to coincide with easing of restrictions in New South Wales.
Melbourne: 5–6 November
Due to the extended lockdown in Victoria, the Melbourne O=PEN HOUSE, originally planned for October, will run from 5–6 November, subject to Victorian restrictions.
