The Brien Holden Vision Institute (BHVI) is calling optometrists to support Myopia Awareness Week, 23-28 May 2022, by getting involved with the #MyopiaAwarenessWeek campaign.
This year’s campaign, Make Your Eye Move, aims to increase awareness of myopia and to encourage practitioners and parents to make ‘Eye Moves’ to reduce the risk of onset of myopia, the progression of myopia in eyes that are already myopic, and the overall burden of myopia with improved myopia management techniques.
A collective voice of eye care professionals and industry partners will help create the change needed to get parents and children into clinics for informed discussion about myopia
It is hoped that a collective voice of eye care professionals and industry partners will help create the change needed to get parents and children into clinics for informed discussion about myopia.
To get involve, the #MAW2022 Toolkit, which provides myopia facts, graphics, and videos to use to promote broader awareness of myopia, can be downloaded for free. Optometrists are encouraged to use the toolkit as a guide to support their work around myopia and share myopia management tips online, and with networks of patients, associates, family and friends.
To help start the conversation about myopia, social media campaign posts should be shared with the hashtags #MyopiaAwarnessWeek and #MAW2022.
