The Optical Company (TOC) continues to grow, this time with the acquisition of The Eye Place, a practice located in Singleton, New South Wales.
Adam Maher, founder of The Eye Place said selling his business to TOC was a big decision, but one he feels comfortable having made.
Keen to see the business he has nurtured since 2015 transition to ownership of “the right team”, he plans to continue working with the practice as an employee.
“I was conscious, not just of the commercial aspects but the goodwill in the local area for myself and the team… not to mention that remaining on in the capacity of an optometrist meant I was also looking at the employee relations side for the whole team.”
He said TOC appealed because it is optometry led and well-established in both metro and regional areas. Additionally, it offered structure and support, health and wellbeing benefits, and a commitment to fostering team motivation.
Ultimately, Mr Maher said the agreement leaves him “very pleased” with the outcome.
“I started one day as an owner making a big choice and the next day as an optometrist employed to do what I enjoy most… I see plenty of opportunity for the future and am glad to be along to share the ride,” he concluded.
With the backing of Healthia, TOC says it offers opportunities for independent practices, established store networks and everything in between. Email Aaron Kangisser, General Manager, [email protected].
