Hannaford Eyewear Receives National Award Recognition

Hannaford Eyewear, based in the New South Wales Southern Highlands, has been named a 2022 Australian Small Business Champion Award Winner. Having served Bowral, Moss Vale and Mittagong since 2004, the practice is grateful for the national recognition.

“We’ve been entering the Local Business Awards and Australian Small Business Champion Awards by Precedent Productions at local and national levels since 2007 and this was our first time taking home the national award,” said Thao Hannaford, principal optometrist at Hannaford Eyewear.

Grant and I spoke about how incredible our team is who are all early career optometrists and optical dispensers/assistants

In the past, the practice has been recognised in the Illawarra and South Coast, and Southern Highlands categories of the Local Business Awards.

“There were some years I didn’t even feel like applying but I always did it for my team. They deserve to be recognised nationally and I am absolutely delighted it finally happened,” said Ms Hannaford.

The Australian Small Business Champion Awards are open to all small businesses in Australia within the retail, service and manufacturing industries, and are awarded based on standards of excellence and overall success.

“30 judges worked through over 3,500 entries to shortlist the finalists and choose the winners. That’s one huge task and we are thankful to them for choosing Hannaford Eyewear as a worthy recipient,” said Ms Hannaford.

Ms Hannaford also thanked her husband and business partner, Grant Hannaford, as well as their dedicated team.

“Grant and I spoke about how incredible our team is, who are all early career optometrists and optical dispensers/assistants. Don’t underestimate a Gen Z, there are amazing ones out there, future leaders.

“Our vision can only happen with the support of a great team and to have one who loves the practice and the patients as much as Grant and I do, is such a blessing. We work in a wonderful community and the support we receive from our patients is what keeps us around. Saying thank you will never be enough,” she concluded.

The award recipients were announced at two National Presentation Evenings held 2-3 September 2022.
