Martin Robinson has been elected as National President of the Cornea and Contact Lens Society of Australia (CCLSA).
Mr Robinson is a long-serving board member of the CCLSA and serves as the Tasmanian state chapter president. Popular at webinars, conferences, events, and on social media, his Hobart-based practice, Martin’s Eyecare, was a recent recipient of a Telstra Business Award.
Mr Robinson was scheduled to take over the presidency at a prior AGM, but due to the upheavals of COVID, Dr Margaret Lam continued in her role as National President, for a record four years.
“Martin is one of the most hardworking individuals in the CCLSA,” Dr Lam said. “He’s always quietly and studiously working behind the scenes to help us achieve many key goals. I could not be leaving the CCLSA in better hands.”
Mr Robinson and Dr Lam were core players when the CCLSA pivoted to webinars early in 2020; were central to the success of ICCLC 2019 and ICCLC 2022; and to implementing the new CCLSA MEMBES AMS and website portal, including the upgraded ‘Find a Practitioner’ search function. They have supported the board, members, and committees through COVID, along with many other critical events.
CCLSA CEO Alan Saks said, “Congratulations Martin, we’re super proud of your efforts all round. Your great patient care, to a broad spectrum of people from all walks of life is something for others to aspire to. I look forward to your continued great leadership and our excellent working relationship at CCLSA.”
