Bausch and Lomb has re-launched its daily disposable silicone hydrogel lens, the Ultra One-Day, promising it will allow optometrists to “go beyond” their clients’ expectations of comfort.
Originally launched before the COVID-19 pandemic, Bausch and Lomb said the numerous disruptions and lockdowns impacted on the rollout to eye health professionals.
three-quarters of silicone hydrogel contact lens wearers settled for less comfort so they could wear their lenses for the entire day
The company held an educational roadshow across Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland this month.
The lens was developed on the back of data that showed three-quarters of silicone hydrogel contact lens wearers settled for less comfort so they could wear their lenses for the entire day.
As well, the same number blamed their lifestyle for issues such as reduced vision and increased discomfort, rather than their contact lenses.
Bausch and Lomb National Professional Services Manager, Vision Care, Simon Hanna, said the Ultra One-Day catered for the 82% of contact lens wearers, who said they were interested in a contact lens that prevented or reduced dryness.
The company claims the Ultra One-Day is comfortable for 16 hours of wear.1
