The Optical Company (TOC) and Healthia Limited have announced Victorian-based Kosmac & Clemens and Queensland’s Vision Eye Health will be added to its network.
Across the past two years TOC has expanded by 40% and the latest acquisitions means it now has a footprint of 59 stores.
In a media release announcing the acquisitions, TOC said Kosmac & Clemens is a highly regarded optometry-led network with well-established practices across Central Victoria.

Family-led Vision Eye Health has two clinic locations in Southport Park and Runaway Bay, and increases TOC’s presence on the Gold Coast to four locations.
“It’s a privilege to be in a position to welcome such fine optometry businesses with such wide-reaching industry respect to our company,” said Colin Kangisser, CEO, The Optical Company and Director, Healthia Limited.
Edward Kosmac, optometrist and founding partner of Kosmac & Clemens, said Healthia and The Optical Company represent “the right ethos to be the ideal custodian of our business”.
“With a 30-year commitment to servicing the eye care needs of Central Victorians, we are very proud of the reputation we have established and naturally there was a lot of interest as we started looking at succession.”
He said TOC was “well equipped for the support of our teams as Kosmac & Clemens enters a new chapter”.
Kosmac & Clemens and Vision Eye Health join TOC network of clinics including nib Eye Care, The Optical Co, LensPro, Kevin Paisley Optometrists, Stacey & Stacey Optometrists plus independents Lanigans, John Holme Optometrists and The Eye Place.
TOC has a pro-active approach to identifying potential stores, supported by a structure within Healthia for both outright purchase and partnership models.
Along with multi-site acquisitions, over the past 12 months TOC has also undertaken extensive refurbishments of well-established stores in Townsville and the flagship Kevin Paisley Optometrists and Hearing in Geelong (pictured). In late 2022 The Optical Co Charlestown store re-opened, becoming the first multi-discipline site in an extended retail space shared with NaturalFit Footwear & Podiatry – a retail group that is part of the Feet & Ankles division of Healthia.
“Health and wellbeing continue to be important for Australians. As a leader in this space the ability to offer clients even more options within our broader network with new purchases of existing clinics plus our unique position to develop new sites that combine multiple complimentary disciplines, reflects the demand by clients for great care, familiar faces and continued trusted presence in the local community,” commented Wes Coote CEO & Director, Healthia Limited.
