Nexus Expands to 29 Facilities with Montserrat

Nexus Hospitals has completed the acquisition of boutique short-stay hospital operator Montserrat Day Hospitals (Montserrat).

The acquisition of an additional 11 Montserrat hospitals increases the national network of Nexus hospitals to 29 facilities and, according to Nexus, significantly expands its capacity to deliver high-quality, affordable healthcare to more Australians.

Nexus and Montserrat both have conveniently located, short-stay facilities which reduce unnecessary time spent in hospital, reflecting their shared “commitment to patient-focused care and delivering high quality clinical outcomes”.

Our collective scale will enable us to invest more in our facilities and equipment to benefit patients, doctors and staff

In a statement Nexus acknowledged the significant benefits that would stem from the combined expertise and resources of both groups, and the opportunity this presented to deliver better healthcare models on a larger national platform.

“Our collective scale will enable us to invest more in our facilities and equipment to benefit patients, doctors and staff,” the statement read. “We believe this re-investment is critical to driving better health outcomes and providing the best possible care to the communities we serve. Our focus on continuous innovation is critical to delivering the modern models of care required to build a sustainable and robust healthcare system.”

Andrew Petering, Nexus CEO, said “Our commitment to excellence, quality and patient-centred care will remain at the core of everything we do. We warmly welcome the Montserrat team and look forward to working with our combined stakeholder group of suppliers, payors and doctors to deliver the best possible experience for our patients and the broader Australian community.”
