A new General Manager has been appointed to lead Heidelberg Engineering in Australia when Carey Hazelbank retires on 30 June.
Chris Farley, who has extensive experience in the medical technology industry is expected to “drive growth and solidify Heidelberg’s position in Australia”.
Mr Farley joins the company from Planet Innovation, where he led a product development consultancy consisting of 230 scientists, designers and engineers.
During his tenure he oversaw the design and development of numerous cutting-edge point-of-care and lab-use medical, in vitro diagnostic medical devices and life science devices for esteemed Australian and United States-based companies.

Having graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) from the University of Melbourne in 2004, Mr Farley embarked on a 10-year journey in Germany, holding senior leadership positions in the aerospace industry.
Like Mr Hazelbank, Mr Farley is deeply committed to enhancing patient and practitioner outcomes and eagerly anticipates the impact of Heidelberg Engineering’s work.
“I am thrilled to join the Heidelberg Engineering family and contribute to improving eye health with our clinical and research clients and partners. I am incredibly grateful to Carey for building a great team and facilitating a thorough transition period,” Mr Farley said.
Heidelberg Engineering acknowledged Mr Hazelbank’s management of the company, stating that he “leaves behind a remarkable legacy of leadership and contributions”.
