Attendees at the Australasian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (AUSCRS) annual conference are invited to attend a breakfast lecture presented by Professor Mahipal S. Sachdev and Dr Patrick Versace.

About the Speakers
Professor Mahipal S. Sachdev
Professor Sachdev is chairman and Managing Director at the Centre for Sight in Delhi, India, Past President, and Past Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS) and Past President of Delhi Ophthalmological Society.
Recognised with national and international awards, the Padmashri award was conferred on him by the President of India, the late Dr APJ Abdul Kalam in 2007.
Professor Sachdev has been published in 94 reputed journals, he has authored 10 books and has presented scientific papers at over 500 state, national and international conferences.
Dr Sachdev started working with Johnson & Johnson Surgical Vision on the ELITA Femtosecond Laser in 2016, with the alpha system, and has provided critical feedback over five years. He performed the first flap procedure in 2018 and since then has completed 98 flaps for Elita flap development. He performed his first SILK (Smooth Incision Lenticular Keratomileusis) lenticule procedure for Elita lenticule development in January 2020 and has now completed 151 clinical lenticules.
Doctor Patrick Versace
Dr Versace is a cataract and refractive surgeon with more than 25 years’ experience as a specialist ophthalmologist.
He holds appointments as a senior lecturer in Optometry at The University of New South Wales and Staff Specialist ophthalmologist at The Prince of Wales Hospital Randwick and Sydney Eye Hospital, providing clinical service and registrar surgical training.
Dr Versace has significant experience in refractive laser procedures and recently started working with Johnson & Johnson Vision and ELITA.
Dr Versace has been involved in numerous clinical trials and is often an invited speaker at international meetings. He regularly contributes to the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, giving lectures and participating in symposia. As a member of the Therapeutic Goods Administration Ophthalmic Clinical Advisory Group and specialist advisor to the Advisory Committee for Medical Devices – Canberra, Dr Versace contributes to the safe introduction of new technologies to Australia, drawing on experience gained working with the development of new intraocular lens technologies, both clinically in Australia and at a research level in Europe.
