Bupa Optical will donate AU$5 from every pair of prescription glasses or contact lenses sold from 12 to 31 October 2023 to Cambodia Vision, a volunteer organisation that provides eye care to those in need.
Launched on World Sight Day 2023 (Thursday 12 October), the campaign runs until the end of October and reinforces Bupa Optical’s commitment to improving accessibility to essential eyecare.
Each year, 57,500 Cambodians become blind,1 with many of these cases being preventable.2

Addressing Global Eye Health Concerns
Bupa Optical Managing Director, Guneet Sawhney said it’s vital to support programs and initiatives that address eye health issues locally and internationally.
“As a health and care company, we want to acknowledge World Sight Day in a meaningful way with our people and our customers.
“Through each sale, we know we can make a big difference to people’s eye sight and raise awareness about the global issue of preventable blindness,” said Mr Sawhney.
As part of its commitment to promoting eye health amongst communities in need, Bupa Optical Optometrists coordinate trips to regional and remote communities around the Northern Territory to provide eye care. Bupa Optical also donated over 5,000 pairs of spectacles and sunglasses frames to Cambodia Vision earlier this year.
This month, a Darwin-based Bupa Optical optometrist will join a volunteering mission with the charity organisation to Cambodia to provide essential eye health services such as tests for glaucoma and cataracts.
“We encourage our people to be active in the community because we know that improving eyesight improves quality of life and helps people live life to their full potential,” said Mr Sawhney.
