James Gibbins and Chedy Kalach, directors of the Australasian College of Optical Dispensing (ACOD), have established the Australasian College of Audiometry (AuCA).
In doing so, AuCA becomes Australasia’s newest training provider delivering quality training and continual professional development to meet the growing needs of the audiometry industry.
With over 50 years of industry and vocational education experience, and a passion for helping students achieve success, Mr Gibbins and Mr Kalach said they are excited to lead this new arm of ACOD that will offer “customised, flexible, and responsive student-centered training services in audiometry”.
Together, they have a wide association of colleagues in industry and have been responsible for training thousands of students.
Already AuCA has a team of audiologists throughout Australia and a newly hired General Manager, Heather Joseph.
With years of project and team management experience, Ms Joseph is well equipped to help lead the team as they start teaching the next generation of audiometrists.
From December 2023, AuCA will offer the following courses in the Vocational Education and Training sector as a Registered Training Organisation:
- HLT47415 – Certificate IV in Audiometry, and
- HLT57415 – Diploma of Audiometry.
All courses are designed to suit the needs of today’s dynamic learning environment while aligning to units of competency which support career progressing skills and opportunities.
