This half-day, highly interactive masterclass will be guided by leaders in the field, Dr Philip Cheng, International Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control Fellow, and Jacinda Van, an experienced optometrist from the specialty contact lens practice Richard Lyndsay and Associates. Their in-depth presentations will be followed by a panel discussion with attendee participation, ensuring a dynamic and engaging learning experience for all.
Masterclass Program
Session 1: Orthokeratology – A Practical Guide to Fitting Ortho-K in Practice
Dr Cheng will provide expert tips on patient selection, and lens fitting. During this session participants will learn how to manage patient and parent expectations and troubleshoot common issues. Additionally, they will discover how to effectively use a corneal topographer to evaluate corneas for suitability of orthokeratology and assess lens fitting and treatment outcomes.
Session 2: Orthokeratology Troubleshooting
Orthokeratology can be rewarding for both practitioners and patients alike, but what happens when things go wrong? Ms Van will help participants identify and manage both unexpected orthokeratology treatment outcomes and potential orthokeratology complications to help achieve success.
Session 3: Interactive Orthokeratology Demonstration
The masterclass will conclude with a comprehensive demonstration of orthokeratology lens design, led by Dr Cheng. During this hour-long session, participants will exercise their newly acquired knowledge and skills in a practical setting, using the EyeSpace software to design lenses tailored to individual patient needs.
