Enhancing Professional Presence

Astha Rai led an insightful session on how optometrists can elevate their professional profile. Collaborative care with allied health professionals was encouraged and optometrists actively exchanged ideas and shared their approaches to building and maintaining a strong professional presence in their communities.

Mark Koszek, optometrist and keynote speaker from the newly acquired EyeQ group, shared valuable insights from his 28 years in the optometry industry. He encouraged optometrists to offer unique services that set their practices apart, such as paediatric optometry and advanced contact lens fittings. Mr Koszek also highlighted the critical role of ancillary testing, presenting case studies that demonstrated the benefits for patients. He urged professionals to educate patients and offer personalised vision solutions by considering lifestyle factors like hobbies, computer use and sun exposure.

Concluding his talk and the roadshow on a thought-provoking note, Mr Koszek proposed that the primary role of optometrists is to “inspire our patients to take ownership of their eye health and place value on eye care”.
