Professor David Mackey AO is one of eight esteemed researchers appointed to a new Western Australian committee, to provide strategic advice to the state government.
WA Medical Research Minister Stephen Dawson welcomed the appointment of the new committee and its important role to support the Department of Health and the Future Health Research and Innovation (FHRI) Fund Advisory Council.
Prof Mackey is a National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Practitioner Fellow, former Managing Director of the Lions Eye Institute (2009–19), a councillor of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) and current RANZCO representative on the Council of the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology.
Announcing the appointments, Mr Dawson said the appointment of this new Research Expert Committee was an important step in making WA an international hub for medical research and innovation.
