KeraClub Webinar 13 November

The 9th annual KeraClub – a community event for patients with keratoconus and their carers – is being held as a webinar tomorrow evening (13 November).

Falling just days after World Keratoconus Day on 10 November, the webinar is co-hosted by the Save Sight Institute at The University of Sydney and Keratoconus Australia.

KeraClub 2024 will bring together patients, researchers, and clinicians for discussions on the latest advancements in keratoconus management.

This year’s KeraClub will spotlight cutting-edge research, with a special focus on contributions from the Save Sight Keratoconus Registry (SSKR). Attendees will hear about recent breakthroughs in keratoconus treatment, including studies on corneal cross-linking and the impact of keratoconus on patients’ quality of life.

The event will be chaired by internationally acclaimed violist, Michelle Pritchard, who will also share her personal experience living with keratoconus.

Featured speakers and topics:

  • Optometrist Jilian Campbell on contact lens options for keratoconus,
  • World renowned corneal specialist Professor Stephanie Watson OAM on crosslinking and the launch of patient resources,
  • Kornhauster Research Fellow at SSI, Himal Kandel on cutting-edge patient outcomes research of the Save Sight Keratoconus Registry, and
  • Larry Kornhauser OAM on what matters to patients with keratoconus.

Other speakers will discuss artificial intelligence and keratoconus, the impact of keratoconus severity on the results of crosslinking and new approaches to crosslinking, patient perspectives on the quality of life impact of keratoconus, allergies and eye rubbing in keratoconus, and opportunities for supporting keratoconus research.

Following the presentations, a panel discussion and Q&A session will allow attendees to engage with experts and ask questions about the future of keratoconus treatment.
