Interventional Glaucoma Revolution Webinar: Wednesday 26 March

Ever wondered about the outcomes that can be achieved with early and proactive intervention to manage glaucoma?

Join ophthalmologists Professor Helen Danesh-Meyer, Dr Aparna Raniga, and Dr Judy Ku to find out more at an interactive webinar sponsored by Glaukos, on the evening of Wednesday 26 March, 2025.

Why the Need

Glaucoma is a leading cause of irreversible blindness, yet traditional management approaches often rely on late-stage intervention, allowing the disease to progress before more definitive treatments are considered. This reactive model results in poor long-term outcomes, increased patient burden, and higher healthcare costs.

Optometrists play a critical role in retarding the rate of glaucoma progression and reducing functional blindness by referring and co-managing patients.

During this webinar, Prof Danesh-Meyer, and Drs Raniga and Ku will explore why we need interventional glaucoma – a proactive approach that prioritises earlier, procedural interventions – to slow disease progression, reduce reliance on long-term medication, and improve patient quality of life.

By addressing the shortcomings of current treatment paradigms and highlighting the benefits of timely, structured intervention, they will make the case for a fundamental shift in how we manage glaucoma to preserve vision more effectively.

And, by analysing a series of case studies, they will inform attendees about topics including genetic risk factors for glaucoma, and the dose-response relationship of myopia and glaucoma. They will speak about red flags to prompt referral for consideration of treatment, and about appropriate interventional strategies for different glaucoma presentations.
