A newly refurbished Guide Dogs Centre in Glossodia, near Windsor in Sydney’s west is now operational.
Home to the world-class dog services, the centre features an administration building, onsite veterinary clinic, breeding centre, kennels, outdoor training facilities and dog recreation spaces.
The renovated space also cements our mission to expand our services and reach and maximise impact for our clients so they may continue to live the life they choose
The administration building, which originally opened in 2000, has now been reimagined by Wool+Hay Architects, transforming it into a vibrant and welcoming space that sets the gold standards of modern accessibility, inclusivity and sustainability.
A large function space has been created for staff, community and donor events, with a brand new kitchen, breakout space, bathrooms and end of trip facilities.
The training facilities have also been upgraded to enhance the organisation’s dog services, including a brand-new puppy enrichment space to offer a dedicated place for young pups to train, rest and play.
The entire facility has been fitted out with braille, tactile signage and the latest assistive technology.
Dale Cleaver, CEO of Guide Dogs NSW/ACT said the refurbishment “is a significant milestone for Guide Dogs NSW/ACT as the facilities have been at the heart of our day-to-day operations for a quarter of a century”.
“Through these vital upgrades the centre embarks on a new chapter, helping us continue to provide best-in-class facilities for our dogs, and the incredible team who work with them every day and train them,” he said.
“The renovated space also cements our mission to expand our services and reach and maximise impact for our clients so they may continue to live the life they choose.”
The refurbishment of the Guide Dogs Centre in Glossodia follows the recent opening of Guide Dogs NSW/ACT brand new spaces in Newcastle and Canberra late last year. As well, Guide Dog’s award-winning flagship premises in St Leonards, Sydney, opened its doors to the community in 2022.
All spaces have become vital hubs for the local communities and supported Guide Dogs mission to continue to invest in regional NSW/ACT and maximise impact for the community.
