The Australian and New Zealand Eye Foundation (ANZEF) has opened its 2026 annual grant rounds, for initiatives that advance eye health equity and access for communities in Australia, Aotearoa New Zealand, and priority countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
ANZEF said the grants “invest in ideas and partnerships that create lasting, meaningful change for communities experiencing avoidable vision loss and barriers to care”.
Applications are now open and must be received by Wednesday 8 April. Successful recipients will be announced in September
The grants are open to members and associates of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists, and organisations and professionals working in eye health, global health, and ophthalmic education.
Each grant is limited to AU$50,000.
ANZEF said focus areas may include, but are not limited to:
- Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander (First Nations), Māori, and Pacific eye health
- Growing the First Nations, Māori, and Pacific ophthalmology workforce
- Cultural safety in the delivery of eye care
- Global eye health collaboration and development, and
- Rural and remote eye health.
Projects must be delivered in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Indonesia, Tonga, Tuvalu, Kiribati, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Timor-Leste, Vanuatu, Samoa or Nauru.
