Internationally renowned Australian ophthalmologist Professor Hugh Taylor AC has been revealed as the speaker for this year’s Barry Jones Vision Oration.
Vison 2020 Australia describes the Barry Jones Vision Oration as the “premier annual keynote speech from the eye health and vision care sector”. It is named in honour of Vision 2020’s inaugural Chair and current patron, Professor the Hon Barry Jones AC.

Prof Taylor has dedicated his career to ophthalmic research, education, and the development of community-based eye care programs, with a longstanding commitment to eliminating avoidable blindness.
His work spans decades of impact, from establishing the Indigenous Eye Health Unit to leading internationally through roles with the International Council of Ophthalmology and the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness. He is currently the President of the Academy Ophthalmologica Internationalis.
