2026 ACBO Connect 20–21 June, Brisbane

The Australasian College of Behavioural Optometrists (ACBO) will host a two-day conference in Brisbane from 20–21 June.

Headlining the 2026 ACBO Connect Conference will be optometrist Dr Curtis R Baxtrom from Washington in the United States. A Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and the College of Optometrists in Vision Development, Dr Baxtrom is an expert in visual development, reading, dyslexia, head trauma, amblyopia, and strabismus. He has lectured internationally and has published original papers in a number of journals.

Dr Baxtrom consults at two rehabilitation hospitals in Washington, providing neuro‑optometric rehabilitation services, and is an Adjunct Professor at Pacific University. He also serves as Director of the Vision Northwest Vision Therapy and Rehabilitation Residency, sponsored by Pacific University.

On day one, Dr Baxtrom will present on visual development and how it affects learning. His lectures will review visual acquisition skills and visual information processing skills, enabling attending optometrists to help set the stage for reading, spelling, mathematics, and handwriting.

On day two, optometrists and vision therapists will be able to attend streamed sessions facilitated by some of ACBOs most experienced members.
