Myopia Profile has launched a new myopia control guide for families, available on its consumer-facing site MyKidsVision.org.
Myopia Profile said the Myopia Control Product Compendium “offers families a centralised, evidence-based guide to childhood myopia treatments, offering clear guidance to help parents and caregivers navigate the growing range of options for their children”.
“As the number of myopia control options grows, many parents are feeling overwhelmed by the choices available,” said Dr Kate Gifford, co-founder of Myopia Profile.
The goal of the Myopia Control Product Compendium is to help parents navigate this information, provide clear guidance, and make the research less overwhelming
“Eye care professionals (ECPs) are fielding more questions from parents, who are becoming increasingly savvy about their children’s eye health. We’re also noticing more discussions in online forums as families seek information on their own. The goal of the Myopia Control Product Compendium is to help parents navigate this information, provide clear guidance, and make the research less overwhelming.”
Accessible Language
The Compendium translates clinical insight into accessible, parent-friendly language. The content offers clear, age-specific guidance from toddlers to young adults.
Myopia Profile said the platform has been shaped by feedback from thousands of ECPs, parents, and patients. It is organised across six categories of myopia management: spectacles, soft contact lenses, orthokeratology, atropine, light therapies, and instruments and software.
In addition, ‘Parents’ Guide’ articles provide concise overviews of each treatment type and relevant diagnostic technologies, helping families understand how treatments work and what benefits they may offer. Myopia Profile said the resources are intentionally non-comparative and designed to be neutral across all treatment modalities and practice settings, ensuring they do not imply preference for one approach over another or disadvantage any clinical setting.
