Shexie has recently expanded its premium practice management system, Shexie Platinum, with the introduction of ShexiePay powered by Medeor Payments – a fully integrated payments solution that supports both online payments and multi‑merchant EFTPOS (electronic funds transfer at point of sale).
The unified solution removes the long‑standing disconnect between payment terminals, online payment platforms, and practice management software. Whether a patient pays online or via an in‑practice EFTPOS terminal, ShexiePay delivers real‑time payment approvals and instant reconciliation, eliminating manual end‑of‑day balancing and significantly reducing administrative workload.
For multi‑provider and multi‑location practices, this automation also reduces billing errors and ensures accurate allocation of payments across merchants.
The latest addition continues the platform’s expanding scope, which now integrates with four artificial intelligence (AI) transcription modules, with two further integrations due before the end of the year. Additionally, it connects with a growing suite of third-party systems including HealthLink, Medical Objects, EyeVantage, Forum ZEISS, and the SOx Surgical Ordering system – enabling digital ordering workflows to flow directly through the practice management environment.
Randal Halligan, Shexie Director, said interest in the company’s PMS platform has been boosted since the announcement that Bp Software had ceased to support the well-established platform Bp VIP.net.
“One of the aspects enquirers are excited about is our platform’s capacity for clinical customisation,” he said. “Realising that ophthalmologists appreciated the screens built into Bp VIP.net for different disease states, we went one step further and created screens that are fully customisable.

“Specialists can build their own screens (initially assisted by Shexie technicians) tailored to specific disease states, allowing them to capture patient data, images, procedures, and outcomes in a structure that suits their individual practice.”
That data can then be interrogated – pulling up, for instance, every patient who has undergone a particular procedure – and used for benchmarking and outcomes analysis. For subspecialists managing cohorts of patients with conditions such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, cataract, or diabetic retinopathy, he said the ability to interrogate a practice’s own longitudinal data is a clinically meaningful capability.
Additionally, Mr Halligan highlighted the use of a Shexie feature called ‘Forms’ which allows practices to invite patients via a secure email link to complete and submit their personal and clinical information before they arrive. The use of Forms, Telehealth video calls, Eclipse and Medicare Web Services are included in the yearly subscription of Platinum.
“By the time the patient arrives for their consultation, their demographic information has already been captured. Practices can also tailor their screens to record additional clinical or historical details, all of which are stored within the system. This helps eliminate the paper-based intake process that remains common in many specialist waiting rooms,” said Mr Halligan.
“Forms, together with our booking portal for patients and doctors, and our mobile web app, enables clinicians to dictate letters, view patient records, pathology results and documents, capture images, and select billing item numbers from their phone, with all information automatically uploaded and linked to the patient record. This represents a significant advance in workflow efficiency.”
Having supported the medical software sector since 1994, Mr Halligan said Shexie is offering structured migration pathways for practices transitioning from other platforms, including VIP.net, with a staged trial conversion process designed to minimise disruption ahead of go-live.
