Opticare Academy Launches for Independent Eye Care

Opticare has launched Opticare Academy, a dedicated learning platform to support independent optical practices and their teams with practical training, industry insights, and ongoing professional development.

Built on more than four decades of industry experience, Opticare Academy’s e-learning platform is available to every team member, from dispensers and practice managers to optometrists and new staff.

Jessica Kingsley, Professional Services Manager at Opticare, who has led the development of Opticare Academy’s learning structure, course content, training resources and practical education framework said the academy “has been built to make training more practical, accessible and relevant to the way independent optical practices operate every day”.

“The goal is to provide every team member, from dispensers and practice managers to optometrists and new staff, with clear and useful learning that builds confidence, improves patient conversations, and supports stronger practice outcomes,” she said.

Online Learning Any Time

Designed specifically for the realities of busy practices, Opticare Academy allows users to access learning anytime using their computer, tablet, or mobile phone, making it easier for teams to learn at their own pace and continue developing their knowledge wherever they are.

With an initial selection of foundation courses, the platform will continue to build and expand its library of resources which will cover:

  • Lens education,
  • New technologies in optics,
  • Sales and marketing,
  • Video tutorials and webinars,
  • Downloadable guides and resources, and
  • Interactive learning modules and assessments.

In-Person Training

In addition to online learning resources, Opticare Academy offers exclusive in-person training opportunities delivered by Opticare’s Business Development Managers and Professional Services team. These sessions can be tailored to specific technologies, products, workflows, and practice development needs relevant to each practice.

An Expanding Platform

The Academy will continue to expand over time, with additional courses, resources, webinars, and learning opportunities progressively added into the platform.

While CPD accreditation is not currently available within Opticare Academy, Opticare confirmed it is actively exploring future CPD accreditation opportunities as part of the platform’s ongoing development.

Access to Opticare Academy is exclusive to Opticare customers and approved team members, with onboarding progressively rolling out across the Opticare customer network starting this month. It can be accessed at the new academy website
