A new range of intraocular lenses (IOLs), exclusively distributed in Australia by IQ Medical, spans presbyopia-correcting, extended depth of focus (EDOF) and monofocal technologies.
The IQ Medical IOL portfolio brings together lenses from Ophtec and AST Visioncare.
Within the presbyopia-correcting range is Ophtec’s Precizon Presbyopic, a hybrid acrylic lens built around the company’s patented Continuous Transitional Focus (CTF) technology. The purely refractive design uses multiple segments across the lens’ anterior surface to deliver a smooth, continuous transition of power from distance to near, with the aim of helping patients achieve spectacle independence.
For patients seeking enhanced intermediate vision without the trade-offs associated with advanced optics, Ophtec’s Precizon Go offers a true non-diffractive monofocal plus design, preserving distance clarity while extending functional focus for everyday tasks.
AST Visioncare’s contribution includes the Asqelio Trifocal and Asqelio EDOF lenses, both built on the hydrophobic acrylic MBI platform. The Asqelio Trifocal is positioned to deliver freedom from glasses across a continuous visual range, with optimised energy distribution between intermediate and near focal points designed to minimise the visual disturbances often associated with multifocal lenses. The Asqelio EDOF, meanwhile, uses wavefront-shaping technology and a bi-aspheric optic to elongate the focal range, providing excellent distance and intermediate vision while maintaining high optical quality and a low incidence of photic phenomena. According to IQ Medical, many patients also achieve functional near vision without spectacles.
Rounding out the portfolio is PreciSAL, a monofocal designed for surgeons who demand precise refractive targeting. Manufactured to a 0.125 D tolerance and available in 0.25 D increments, the platform combines exceptional manufacturing precision with a glistening-free, tray-polymerised lathe-cut optic. The toric design incorporates AccuPlace quadrant lathing to enhance rotational tolerance and support predictable astigmatism correction.
All lenses, including toric models, are supplied in preloaded delivery systems to support efficient and consistent implantation.
Each lens in the collection is supplied with a preloaded injector system – IOLMatic, Pioli or Accuject, depending on the model – to support ease of implantation in theatre.
