Borsalino, a name synonymous with ‘Made in Italy’ glamour since Guiseppe Borsalino stepped out with his hats in 1857, launched their new eyewear range last month (September).
A packed house of 200 fashionistas and leaders in the optical industry were first in the world to see the new collection at Doltone House on Pyrmont Point, in Sydney. A group of eight gorgeous dancers and models (one looking remarkably like Brad Pitt) provided upbeat entertainment while showing the eyewear at its best.
Giuseppe Sturiale the designer of Borsalino eyewear, emphasised (through an interpreter) that his designs follow the core values of the Borsalino brand as well as interpreting “what fashion is doing right now in terms of colours, and shapes”. But, he said, “nothing is new, everything is re-interpreted” and so it was… the big, rounded shapes and bold colours that appeared along the runway on the gorgeous faces of the prancing, dancing young models, were all very much reminiscent of the much loved 70s and 80s.
Distributed exclusively in Australia by Prestige Eyewear, the Borsalino collection of optical and sun frames for men and women are made in metal, pantographed and injected acetate. As directed by the house of Borsalino the frames are 100 per cent hand made in Italy. The collection comprises of 50 models, each available in at least four colours.
The eyewear is sure to be as popular as the striking hats worn by the likes of Johnny Depp, Leonardo Di Caprio, and our very own darling of the screen, Nicole Kidman.
The range will only be made available to a hand full of optical outlets in each state. To find out more contact Prestige Eyewear: (AUS) 03 9378 8988.
