The 9th World Glaucoma Congress (WGC) will be held as a virtual event from 30 June – 3 July 2021. The decision to host the event virtually was made by the WGC Board of Governors in light of continuing COVID-19 challenges.
In a statement the Board said, “We believe this is the safest approach for the well-being of our global audience and we are excited that a virtual congress makes it possible to broaden the learning opportunities and engagement with the glaucoma community.”
The congress will cover topics from basic science and genetics of glaucoma, to the latest developments in the medical and surgical management of glaucoma
WGC-2021 Beyond Borders will offer educational exchanges, scientific news, and best practice updates. The congress will cover topics from basic science and genetics of glaucoma, to the latest developments in the medical and surgical management of glaucoma.
Hosted by the Japan Glaucoma Society (JGS), the congress will reflect the strong local character of Japan and enable delegates to experience the country’s beauty.
“Our Program Planning Committee is working to adapt the program to a virtual-only format, with possibilities for areas of innovation given the opportunities with this new approach. We are also working closely with the JGS to develop the best joint program we can for our members,” the Board statement said.
Registration for the WGC open in February 2021. Abstracts can now be submitted via the WGC-2021 website.
