Environmental Sustainability Survey for Optometrists

What are your views on environmental sustainability and climate change as an eye health professional? Deakin University wants to know.

Deakin University is inviting optometrists to complete an online survey on the topic as part of a student research project. The perceptions of optometry students were collected last year.

In an outline of the project, principal researchers Dr Alexandra Jaworski, Kerryn Hart, and Hayley Way from Deakin University said the information collected would allow them to gain a better understanding of the perceptions of both optometry students and optometrists towards environmental sustainability.

“These insights will aid in the design and review of curriculum within optometry and other health professions.”

The online survey, which will take about 15 minutes to complete, is open to registered optometrists only.

The survey will explore perceptions of environmental sustainability and climate change, along with some questions that will provide non-identifiable demographic information for data analysis, including gender, age bracket, principal work setting, years of experience, broad location, prior study/training, and accessed resources in the area or environmental sustainability and/or climate change.

Further information is available online in a plain language statement on the project. The survey itself can be accessed here.
