The Vision Eye Institute (VEI) at Chatswood, on Sydney’s lower north shore, is recruiting patients with cataracts for a new trial, comparing extended depth of field (EDOF) intraocular lenses (IOLs).
The trial will compare a new EDOF IOL with existing EDOF IOL options. The two-month recruitment period is seeking patients with cataracts aged 22 and over. Inclusion and exclusion criteria may preclude some patients from participating in the trial.
VEI said all procedure and follow-up costs are covered by the study sponsor. Procedures will be performed at the co-located Chatswood Day Surgery.
The lead investigator on the study is Associate Professor Tim Roberts of VEI Chatswood. Assoc Prof Roberts is a highly experienced cataract and glaucoma surgeon, whose clinical and research interests include the development and utilisation of new and innovative technologies and therapies in ophthalmology, medical ethics, and education.
