Gaia, a fully automated ultra-widefield retinal imaging device, has been given the green light by the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA). Distributed by Topcon Healthcare, Gaia offers eye care practitioners true-colour ultra-widefield fundus imaging with a 209° field of view in a single capture. And according to Topcon, it features automated alignment, non-contact, non-mydriatic operation on a compact, user-friendly platform.
“Gaia represents Topcon’s response to the increasing prevalence of retinal disease that requires a wider field of view than the traditional fundus cameras, enabling better visualisation of the peripheral retina, which may support early disease detection and management,” said Hideyuki Takizawa, President, Eye Care Business Division, Topcon. “With Gaia, Topcon solidifies its leadership in the fundus camera market.”
