About the role
Are you an optometrist or orthoptist who is interested in writing?
mivision is looking for person with strong writing ability to support the editorial team that is responsible for producing a monthly print publication and digital content.
Working under editorial direction, the successful applicant will attend conferences and write conference reviews, research assigned topics, and interview eye care professionals/academics/ technology developers to write articles about approaches to the surgical and non-surgical management of eye disease. Some articles may be developed in partnership with sponsors and therefore will require an appropriate balance between clinical relevance and commercial messaging.
Applicants may be based anywhere in Australia. However, they must be available to attend occasional conferences and other industry events, including some held during evenings and weekends. Interstate travel may also be required. Reasonable notice will be provided, and approved travel, accommodation and other work-related expenses will be covered by mivision.
The successful applicant will:
- Be an optometrist or orthoptist (current registration not required),
- Have experience in producing written content,
- Demonstrate excellent command of the English language, including spelling and grammar,
- Provide examples of excellence in writing to a high standard of spelling, grammar and professional style,
- Demonstrate organisational skills and be able to work to deadlines,
- Be comfortable interviewing senior medical practitioners, academics and industry experts,
- Have clear communication skills,
- Demonstrate research and interviewing skills,
- Work independently as well as collaborate with the editorial team, and
- Demonstrate commitment to best-practice journalism and display the highest of ethical standards.
The Opportunity
mivision is a tight-knit, high performing team with an expanding scope. This is a freelance position, with no fixed hours. Assignments will be offered as required and agreed with the writer in advance.
