Laurence ‘Larry’ Roth, one of the original co-founders of Marchon Eyewear, passed away in September, following a battle with cancer. He was 75.
Mr Roth began his optical industry career working for Ruth and Frank White at Avant Garde Optics in 1974 until the company was sold in 1982. Together with Al Berg and Jeff White, Mr Roth co-founded Marchon in 1983, where he served as co-president and oversaw the sales team.
Marchon grew into a global leader in licensed eyewear including brands such as Nike, Calvin Klein, Fendi, Coach, and Michael Kors. In 2008, Marchon was acquired by VSP and Mr Roth stayed on as a consultant until his retirement in 2013.
In his retirement, Mr Roth co-founded a successful horse racing and breeding facility, LNJ Foxwoods.
