World’s First Ortho-K Community Launched

The world’s first dedicated community for orthokeratologists has launched online, with a global call out to all orthokeratologists around the world to officially register on the database.

Orthokeratologist.org is an independent platform built by orthokeratologists Jaimin Patel and Deven Lakhani for established and aspiring orthokeratologists. It features articles, research, CPD, advice, training guides, and much more, and aims to be a comprehensive source for all things related to orthokeratology.

“Despite orthokeratology (OK) being around for decades… being the fourth mainstream eye care option (glasses, day lenses, laser, OK)… there is still no dedicated global community and [it has] limited local support,” said Mr Patel. “Additionally, there is no consensus on how many orthokeratologists there are in each country and what help they need. We plan to fix that.”

We’d like to help more orthokeratologists enter the industry and assist those currently fitting OK lenses to improve

“We’re passionate about OK and how it changes patients’ lives,” added Mr Lakhani. “We’d like to help more orthokeratologists enter the industry and assist those currently fitting OK lenses to improve, grow patient numbers, and work as a global community,”

As part of the initiative, orthokeratologists are encouraged to register for free and complete a survey, which includes what resources they need to improve the services they offer to patients. Practitioners can register here.
