Dry eye disease (DED) is driven by multiple pathogenic mechanisms, including inflammation.¹ The Tear Film and Ocular Surface Society Dry Eye Workshop III (TFOS DEWS III) framework recommends identifying each patient’s specific disease drivers and tailoring management accordingly.² Multiple treatments, used in combination, may be required to address the underlying drivers of DED.² In patients with an inflammatory component, topical ciclosporin can be incorporated into a broader treatment strategy.²
Cequa (ciclosporin 900 microgram/mL) is an aqueous, nanomicellar, ophthalmic, ciclosporin solution indicated to increase tear production in patients with moderate to severe dry eye disease where prior use of artificial tears has been insufficient.3,4 It is available for prescribing in both Australia and New Zealand.
