The Optometrists Association of Australia’s Victorian division is expecting one of the country’s major trade expos – the Southern Regional Congress and Trade Expo Melbourne (SRC) – will be better than ever.
SRC, on from 16-18 May, will be held at the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre on the corner of Flinders and Spencer Streets on the banks of the Yarra River.
This year’s SRC will include a number of free symposiums including:
– Johnson & Johnson Vision Care’s lecture covering the latest innovations in Silicone Hydrogels
– CooperVision’s presentation on how patient population demographics have shifted as has the practice of optometry and the importance of the presbyopic patient.
ODMA will provide a free workshop led by well-known speaker, John Lees, to show attendees it is possible to survive and prosper as an independent. The speaker will be backed by a range of industry panellists including successful independent practitioners, Carolyn and Peter Hewett.
Keynote speakers at this year’s SRC will be Dr Ron Melton and Dr Randall Thomas described by organisers as “a dynamic duo from North Carolina, U.S. Drs. Melton and Thomas are full-time clinicians delivering primary and secondary eye care but they have found time to lecture throughout the United States and internationally on the topics of ocular differential diagnosis and medical management of the eye diseases. Melton and Thomas present as a team”.
Also addressing the conference will be Adjunct Professor Peter Swann who served as a faculty member in the School of Optometry, Queensland University of Technology (QUT), for 36 years. He is now Adjunct Professor at QUT and Visiting Professor in the School of Optometry in Hong Kong. His main teaching interests are eye disease, clinical methods of examination and paralytic strabismus.
