Transitions Optical is urging eye care professionals around the country to support this month’s Optometrists Association of Australia UV Awareness Campaign.
The campaign will be driven by a high-profile television commercial schedule and dramatic ‘Fried Egg’ advertising in the form of window displays, posters, counter cards and brochures. Optometrists and dispensers are encouraged to participate by ordering the free materials so ECPs can immediately start leveraging the opportunity to promote healthy sight.
Transitions hopes all eye care professionals will take full advantage of the campaign, by discussing UV protection for all patients and making product recommendations for everyday wear and a secondary pair of glasses for the beach or driving. Patients who do not require prescription eyewear still need to protect against UV damage, so this is a great chance to discuss with them the many sunglass options available.
“We hope that in working with the OAA we will be able to raise UV awareness to people right around the country, and hopefully communicate the message to those currently oblivious to the risks of not wearing adequate eye protection,” Transitions Optical Professional Development Director for Asia Pacific, Denis Fisk, explained.
The 15 second Community Service Announcement will run for three weeks during popular Channel 7 programs, Today Tonight and Seven News, also generating interest and awareness in eye health throughout the wider community.
