mivision Issue 43, Feb 2010

With the summer vacation but a distant memory, most of us are throwing ourselves back into work (come on, you know you love it), planning and ramping up for the year.

At mivision we’re excited at the prospect of what 2010 will bring. We kick the year off with a huge investment into our awesome new website; a site we believe will grow and evolve over the years to become something you’ll find educational, beneficial and fun.

At mivisionclean2.flywheelsites.com you’ll be able to search and locate any eye care and eyewear-related topic imaginable; view both current and archived stories from mivision magazine; view our directory of suppliers; spot classifieds as soon as they’re posted; see our ever-expanding optical video library; check out the latest events and happenings in our photo gallery; see the latest ‘Hot Products’; and enter the myriad of competitions we’ll be running. Also we have introduced – as a first ever for Australia and New Zealand – a scrolling ‘Optical Stock Market Index’ with current optical stock prices from around the world.

When you get back to your computer, check out the website (www.mivision. com.au) for your chance to win a great holiday for two to the stunning five star resort in Port Douglas Queensland, Thala Beach Resort.

As we mature into our fifth year we also introduce our new tagline: ‘Bringing Optics into Focus’.

mivision has evolved into the key communication portal for eye care professions and associated industries. However, whilst communication is a large part of what we do, it is only a small part of what the ‘mivision‘ brand represents. ‘Bringing Optics into Focus’ perfectly captures the essence of mivision; what it is, what we do and where we’re heading. It’s inclusive and progressive, summing up our aim: to improve communication within the eye care community in the interests of helping to achieve optimum patient outcomes.

In this issue of mivision, we feature a forecast from industry heavyweights about what is in store for the eye care industry in 2010. These experts offer valuable insights into how eye care businesses can safeguard themselves in the aftermath of the GFC, ways to remain successful in a competitive market and how to capitalise on the opportunities ahead.

We have an exclusive interview with the Minister for Health, The Hon. Nicola Roxon about her perspective on the Rudd Government’s health care agenda and how this will affect eye health in Australia.

And, as this is the start of the working year, it is a good time to turn to our Last Word for some helpful tips on how to make 2010 your best year yet by stopping procrastination in its tracks and becoming decisive.

There’s all this and more in this issue of mivision. Enjoy.
