OneSight Gives Sight

More than 13,000 people who do not have access to basic eye care can now see a clearer and brighter future thanks to generous contributions Australians have made to the OneSight Foundation during OneSight Week.

The Foundation collected 13,548 pairs of glasses – well exceeding its goal of 5,000 – and raised more than AUD$35,000 during OneSight week, which took place between 22 and 28 February.

The 13,548 pairs of donated glasses will now be cleaned and sorted, ready for dispensing to patients during OneSight’s 15 upcoming international clinics this year. OneSight Australia will also be sending volunteer optometrists to help with clinics in China this month (May) and South Africa in September and November.

More than 314 million adults and children worldwide suffer from poor vision because they do not have access to eye examinations and glasses. Australia is also far from immune.

OneSight’s volunteer optometrists and support staff have helped more than 175,000 Australians in need see more clearly over the past seven years.
