Wyeth Nutrition has launched a baby formula called S-26 GOLD, containing lutein, which the company claims is a key antioxidant which could help protect developing eyes. According to the company, this is important for infant eye health as the most rapid eye development occurs in the first six months of life – with developing eyes at risk of oxidative damage from free radicals and susceptible to eye damage from blue light, the most damaging wavelength of visible light to reach the retina. “As lutein is naturally found in breast milk, the inclusion of breast milk-like levels in S-26 GOLD NEWBORN helps to bridge this nutritional gap,”
