Vision Group Legal Action

Vision Group Holdings Ltd has announced that it plans to take legal action against Queensland ophthalmologist Dr Thomas Eshun-Wilson after he terminated his services agreement with the company. Vision Group said it had recently entered into discussions with Dr Eshun- Wilson about a payment that may become due to him under his staged acquisition agreement. According to Vision Group, Dr Eshun-Wilson had sought a payment which, in the company’s view, was substantially greater than the amount to which he may be contractually entitled.

The company added that the staged payment requested, significantly exceeded the value of the business that was acquired from him. While the company says it negotiated with Dr Eshun-Wilson in good faith and with the aim of arriving at a fair and reasonable resolution to this matter, with the best interests of its shareholders in mind, it could not agree to the staged payment amount requested by Dr Eshun-Wilson.

Following the disputed payment, Dr Eshun-Wilson decided to terminate his services.

The company believes the termination was wrongful and intends to institute court proceedings in due course.

Vision Group says it will do everything it can to ensure patients in the Hervey Bay and Maryborough region are not unnecessarily inconvenienced by the decision of Dr Thomas Eshum-Wilson to leave the group. Vision Group’s medical director, Dr Michael Lawless, said he would advise staff to organise alternative care for patients.
