The MOVSS group from Melbourne University held their 2010 trivia night at Melbourne bar Miss Libertine on the 3rd of May. mivision was there to give away a free pair of Maui Jim sunglasses valued at over $300.
The night was met with laughter as teams of students from Melbourne University battled it out for the ultimate trivia winner. Five rounds of fierce competition saw everyone picking their brains for the answers to the general knowledge and optical related questions.
MOVSS President Jason Carabott provided all members with pizza and drinks throughout the night and drew Michelle Li as the winner of the Maui Jim Sunglasses Competition.
Other prizes were also given away when participants were called upon the stage to perform on behalf of their teams. One keen MOVSS member received a prize for her rendition of the theme song to popular Australian television show ‘Neighbours’.
As the night went on, some questions such as “under the border of which two countries is the Large Hardon Collider?” had the crowd stumped, while others such as “what is the proper name for short-sightedness? ” were met with smiling faces; the answer ‘myopia’ obvious to the optometry and vision science students.
