Hoya Fighting Blindness

Hoya Australia has announced its support of Optometry Giving Sight at the National Silver Sponsor level in Australia, a move it says demonstrates its commitment to global blindness prevention due to uncorrected refractive error.

“Optometry Giving Sight has established a fantastic program that has altered lives worldwide. Hoya is delighted for the opportunity to take part in a program that transforms lives through the gift of sight” says Brad Bairstow, Sales and Marketing Director of Hoya Lens Australia.

“Thanks to the support of Hoya and our other corporate sponsors we can guarantee that 85 per cent of donations from optometrists, their staff and patients and the staff of optical companies go directly to projects that give sight to those most in need,” says Judith Cook, Australasian Manager, Optometry Giving Sight.

Optometry Giving Sight funds sustainable long term programs that provide access to vision care focused on correcting refractive error. Funds are directed to programs in Sri Lanka, East Timor, Africa, India, South America, Indigenous Australia and Papua New Guinea.

Hoya has also unveiled its latest innovation – Summit TrueForm lenses. By combining the very successful conventional Summit Series lenses and FreeForm technology Hoya has enhanced the Summit Series design releasing the new ‘Summit TrueForm’ range, developed by taking a standard conventional lens design and finely tuning it by applying FreeForm technology to the back aspheric surface of the lens.
