W-eye’s new collection of superbly crafted reading glasses is guaranteed to be top of the wish list for every eco-friendly consumer.
W-eye was created by master craftsman Doriano Mattellone in his Ma-wood laboratory deep in the Italian forests of Friuli, and by the pen of Matteo Ragni, industrial designer and researcher into new uses and functions; and winner of the Compasso d’Oro Award.
Technology and research characterise every aspect of the collection, which is crafted from two slim but strong sheets of aluminium and a layer of six different woods; ebony, zebrawood, mahogany, cherry wood, ash wood and walnut, all produced in a single piece and manually refined. The glasses have shape memory to give maximum comfort and are hand finished.
The absence of hinges and the flexibility of temples are, first and foremost, a technical approach that contribute to making W-eye lighter (not only on the nose but also at the side of the head) and guarantees that it fits perfectly and is pleasant to wear.
