Persol is celebrating its legendary sunglasses made famous by actor Steve McQueen with a handmade, limited edition of the screen star’s favourite model.
In 1968, an already famous and charming Steve McQueen elevated the Persol PO 714 model to icon status in the movie, The Thomas Crown Affair.
The PO 714 was an off-screen favourite with the star as well, and as a tribute to McQueen, Persol has relaunched a limited edition of just 10,000 handmade pieces. The new model, with its retro yet incredibly modern style, features the blue lens favoured by McQueen. His signature is emblazoned on the inside of the temple arm and the leather case.
The new PO 714 also features a folding closure at the backend of the temple arm – no longer top to bottom, but now from outside to inside.
