The Optical Distributors & Manufacturers Association has confirmed Australia’s Contact Lens Industry Council (CLIC) will be its major sponsor for the ODMA 2011 education series.
ODMA said it is thrilled with the newly-formed partnership as it continues to re-launch the biennial trade fair, widely considered Australia’s premier optical industry event.
CLIC chairman, Simon Cosgrove, said the partnership deal forges a key component of the Association’s continuing and long-term commitment to the Australian market.
“ODMA has shown its unfailing support for the independent Australian optical industry, providing a dedicated contact lens/lens care education program designed to increase interest and pro-activity among the optometry community in prescribing contact lenses,” he said.
“Similarly, through our partnership in the 2011 ODMA education program, CLIC will be providing an exciting mini series of Contact Lens related seminars aimed at supporting the independent optometrists.”
Ms. Finola Carey, ODMA Executive Director, said CLIC’s expertise coupled with ODMA’s industry knowledge would help deliver a ground breaking industry event.
“The traditional seminars and workshops that form part of ODMA have always been well received and the addition of the CLIC activities will take the program to the next level, strengthening it even more,” said Ms. Carey.
She said the conference was planning to deliver “a truly exciting international key note speaker” as well as a series of expert clinical education sessions designed to arm optometrists with a renewed confidence and enthusiasm to fit contact lenses and to expand their patients’ vision correction options.
“In addition to the CLIC streams, ODMA will continue to stage extensive practice management and business education offerings.”
ODMA 2011 will be held 5 to 7 August 2011 at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour. Further information is available online at ww.odma.com.au.
